Talking with Hands

Los Angeles, CA · Indie/Alternative

Talking With Hands is the songwriting pseudonym of Nashville-born, Los Angeles-based, Matthew Smith. Taking on the moniker in 2007 after a litany of alt-rock bands, Smith has moved deliberately through dreamy pop-art atmospherics, analog synthesis, and politically charged guitar records, each release a new chapter in an ongoing creative evolution. He records himself, in his own studio, on his own terms, a practical necessity for someone with too many ideas to wait on anyone else. His split EP with Telefone is his newest metamorphosis, loose and fun but intensely reflective, a first-person reckoning with youthful ego that doesn't take itself too seriously.
